V1.6.0 Notes

Howto use USBBurnTool V1.6.0 is collected in “USBBurnTool V1.6.0 User Guide.pdf” which is included in “USBBurnTool_V1.6.0.rar”. Make sure you have read the document carefully before use.

For NAND flash burning, the following rules must be followed:

1      For Android boot from NAND flash, make sure you have updated source code of Kernel and XBoot to the submission of April 14, 2014 or later.The corresponding Android version for JZ4775 Mensa is available too. Please refer to the news of the latest Android releasing. The Burn tool is not forward-compatible of the Kernel and XBoot code. Burning old version of Kernel and XBoot will cause the system fails to boot up. The recovery.cpio.img versions follow the same requirements.

2      For Linux system boot from NAND flash, MUST NOT update the Kernel to April 14, 2014 or later. Instead, continue using USBBurnTool V1.4.2. If use USBBurnTool V1.6.0, it will cause Linux system fails to boot up. DO NOT update and USBBurnTool kernel until new verion of Linux NAND flash was released.

3      On first burning, the NAND flash needs to be fully erased. Otherwise, it will cause the system fail to start.

Note：

 i.    The above considerations are caused by the improvement of NAND modules, and have not the essential relation to burn tool.

ii.    Only affect platforms based on NAND Flash. SD/MMC platform is unaffected.

 Primary updating

1. Removed configuration of NAND from kernel and XBoot, so the BSPs are NAND independent.

2. NAND flash partition configuration and parameter setting are moved into burning tool, which makes the modifying and debugging of NAND flashmore flexible.

3. The capacity of the last partition ndmisc (USBStorage) is adaptive automatically if its capacity size is set to -1

4. Speed of NAND Flash writing was improved up to 3 times.

5. Support up to 2RB: A two-RB NAND or two a-RB NANDs.

6. New Medium configuration UI and methods. For V1.6.0 version NAND flash burning, the Medium selection should be "ZoneManager".

Known Issues 

1. 512Byte page size is not supported yet. 

2. Hynix with retry functionality is not supported yet. 

3. Burning system.img separately is not supported yet. A fully erased and re-burn all the files are necessary.
